Two category 5 hurricanes developed within less than four weeks in the Gulf of Mexico. In the 20th century, only three Cat5 storms ever reached the coast of the US. The world has been looking on and hoping that Americans would finally see the light and change their behavior. They want us to start dealing with global warming, lowering our consumption of finite resources, and sign the Kyoto protocol. And while we are at it, they also wouldn't mind if an inordinate number of poor and blacks didn't drown in our floods. They had better not hold their breath.

From Ist – 5th December 2003 the RIO 3 Conference on Climate and Renewable  Energy took place. On conclusion of the conference this declaration was passed.  Accepted version by the participants of RIO 3 on 5th of December 2003, 5.30 pm. (no objections).

Not only in Germany and Europe, but also in Latin America citizens and scientifists try to rich a 100 % of renewable energy news. To declarate this goal 200 experts and politicians from 20 countries took part in "RIO3-World Climate and Energy Event" from 1. - 5. December 2003 in Rio de Janeiro. Rio4 will take place from 8. - 12. February in 2005.
